What will it really take to make AI work in financial services, and not in the sense of just making cool demos, AI power and consequential decisions - but AI that is reliable, scalable, and that can stand up to the scrutiny of a regulator. So many people think of Experian just as a credit bureau, but they are so much more than that. Experian is a global data and technology company that operates across 30+ markets.

Experian was big data before that was even a commonly held term. Over the last couple of years, the world Indicium AI's clients operate in - banks, lenders, insurers - it's got a lot more complex. Market conditions are shifting faster, there's more data to make sense of, there's more regulatory scrutiny. And competitive pressure. So as AI becomes even more critical for financial services, organisations everywhere are struggling with their data - including trusting the data that's now powering their high stakes decisions. This has now become a moment of urgency for organizations around the world. And that's exactly where AI comes in, because in financial services you can't act on an answer that you can't explain.

Experian's ambition is to make everything a bit safer for everyone. They're basically looking to emerge as a protective layer around people's data. But they also knew that their data infrastructure had to evolve fast. So when it came to rethinking the platform that underpinned their analytics, Indicium AI was a natural partner to help them accelerate into the next era. Indicium AI is an innovator, using AI in ways that are market leading. They were able to bring clarity, and where Indicium AI brought insight for Experian was that they don't have to compromise around regulatory compliance and innovation, and don't have to sacrifice that to get that pace and that time to market.

So what we've built together is a simple single federated data platform on AWS with a shared catalogue, consistent data contracts, so data from any business unit can be found, trusted, switched on for a client, instead of being reinvented from scratch every time. Ascend is essentially a set of technologies, all combined together, interconnected through one gateway. Through Ascend, Experian's clients can access pre-integrated credit fraud and identity solutions. They can do some prototyping in their analytical sandbox. They can deploy models into production and so much more. It's not siloed by business units, doesn't require bespoke integrations, and really unlocks the power of Experian for clients to power their innovation.

And where Experian has always been very strict with itself is the governance, and the compliance is non-negotiable. Trust is paramount to everything that Experian does. They are able to create a point of contact data availability from days, down to just minutes. What we've built is the foundation for all of the exciting AI and agentic workflow opportunities that Experian is building on right now. Experian didn't want this to be just a PowerPoint exercise or a pilot because they've got a really ambitious roadmap for Ascend with their clients.

AI is helping to shape that foundation to help the ecosystem accelerate into the future. Experian at the heart of it all, and to bring AI into that and to bring that up to the next level and to prepare it for the future, that's a unique position and we are proud to be a part of that. Experian is really excited to continue partnering with Indicium AI to help build the foundation to enable this ecosystem to scale.
