A few days ago, we proudly launched IndiMesh, our new service framework that marks a significant milestone in our journey. Although launched in 2025, it is the culmination of over six years of dedication, innovation, and refinement, beginning in 2019.
It all started with a challenge. The market—particularly VCs, private equity, and the broader business world—questioned the scalability of traditional services and demanded that we pivot from pure service to a more scalable data product. Simultaneously, the need to accelerate data workflows and bring us closer to the business was clear. As I highlighted in my previous post about the AI Impact on Service, we integrated a modern data stack to transform how we approach data and elevate our capabilities.
In 2019, we embraced two fundamental challenges: scalability and a shift away from traditional data practices. The solution that emerged from these challenges? IndiMesh.
Scaling with Training and Process
Scaling the business required an innovative approach to training and processes. But, it wasn’t enough to just implement the standard solutions that many service companies follow. We needed something visionary that would transform how we operate.
We turned to the Modern Data Stack (MDS)—which, back in 2019, was just beginning to gain traction with tools like dbt (Data Build Tool). This was a game-changer for us, enabling us to reimagine our approach to data.
At the core of IndiMesh are three main pillars: Collective Intelligence, Proven Experience, and Rigorous Quality Control. In this post, I’ll delve into the first pillar, Collective Intelligence, and share the evolution of our training programs that play a pivotal role in scaling our service.
Collective Intelligence: Building the Future of Data Professionals
Training became a cornerstone of our scalability strategy. But we didn’t just create standard training programs—we designed something extraordinary. Enter Indicium Academy.
When we started, our team was just 19 strong, and our Chief Data Officer, Daniel Avancini, developed a training program that we initially thought was too ambitious. However, with hindsight, we now see it as one of the driving forces behind our success.
Indicium Academy was born out of a desire to create a new breed of professionals—Analytics Engineers. Thanks to dbt and the modern data stack, we were able to train thousands of engineers to become specialists in this rapidly evolving field.
What began as a single, free course has grown into a robust training ecosystem. By late 2020, Indicium Lighthouse emerged: a six-month program that combines two months of intensive training, two months of real-world challenges, and two months of client-facing work. This program has become our top talent pipeline, attracting thousands of applicants each year, with the best 50 joining our ranks. In fact, we run two classes annually, allowing us to onboard around 100 new professionals every year.
The best part? Indicium Lighthouse is just the beginning. In addition to Lighthouse, we’ve created Indicium Flashlight (for interns) and Indicium TechTracks (for mid-to senior-level professionals) to continuously develop and refine our collective knowledge.
Moreover, Indicium Academy offers both B2C and B2B formats, with over 20 specialized courses for our clients and 380+ courses for our internal teams. This comprehensive training ecosystem is housed on a platform where both employees and clients can benefit from our content.
Investing in the Future
As we continue to scale and grow, we’re doubling down on our commitment to training. The industry is evolving rapidly, and with AI emerging as a game-changing force. We’re at the forefront of this trend, and continue to actively integrate AI training into our programs. This is essential to ensure our professionals are not only proficient in modern data practices but are also well-equipped to leverage AI in their ongoing work.
In the coming months, I’ll be sharing more about the evolution of IndiMesh and how it continues to shape our future. Our training and processes are what truly set us apart in a competitive market, and we’re excited to continue evolving.
Today, we’re proud to have over 450 professionals on our team, and we plan to hire 100+ more this year through our training programs. As we scale globally, we remain focused on our vision to deliver unparalleled service powered by exceptional talent.
